My very bad book idea... V-3 set up in Norway to hit Scapa Flow.
Paris gun in WW 1 had a range of 74 miles, the V-3 102 miles, Baby Babylon however had a range of 466 miles. Distance between Stavanger & Aberdeen is 313 miles, Scapa Flow would be a tad less than that.

The first of these superguns, "Baby Babylon", was a horizontally-mounted device which was simply a prototype for test purposes. It had a bore of 350 mm (13.8 inches), and a barrel length of 46 metres (151 feet).[1] The horizontally-mounted gun was 45 metres long, and weighed some 102 tonnes. After conducting tests with lead projectiles, this gun was set up on a hillside at a 45 degree angle. Supposedly it was able to achieve a range of 750 km, (750 km = 466 mi). Although its mass was similar to some WWII German "superguns", it was not designed to be a mobile weapon.

Of course the V-3 would've had to have been worked on starting late 20's or something for this to have even the slightest remote hint of feasibility, but it's Saturday & I'm obviously bored, so here it is.
