Water next to Congresshalle in Nurnberg

Wondering if there were any National Socialist items or weapons recovered from the body of water next to the Congresshalle in Nurnberg. Seems a good place for things to get tossed when the American Army was coming toward the city.

You mean the Dutzendteich - well, test the waters.

The greatest collections still reside in german lakes and rivers.

I do know that the water in the Großer Dutzendteich is not very deep, as one afternoon a friend and I started wading across it. People were out on the water in paddle boats and many of them advised us that we should not be out there. As we continued on our course we realized that we were more than halfway across from the Zepplelinwiese side of the lake and were near to the Kongresshalle with the water getting shallower. We never were in more than waist deep that day. Bier was a key ingredient influencing our actions on that day.

They drain the Dutzendteich in the fall and I spent a couple days searching there this past fall and found a lot of aluminium crap from the Volksfest fireworks, but I did snag a 14k gold ring, several coins before and after WWII, a bolt from a WW I G98 and lots of fuse parts from Allied bombing raids.

There are a few locals who have been doing this for many years and I believe they are after gold rings and stuff around the boat docks. I spoke to one who has been at it for 10 years or more and he told me that he found an EK I, WW I and WW II buckle and a few other things.

I have found a few other things in the limited wooded areas around the Reichsparteigelaende like a HJ shooting pin, and in my backyard a US and Belgium uniform button. Where I live was the big SA and HJ camp - during the war it was a POW camp.
