    Plane tree helmet cover

While I'm at it my favourite helmet cover. Bought this in the 90's as a copy, not sure who made it but rumoured to be an 'Austrian' copy made to be sold as original to the unsuspecting of the time. Very nicely aged. It lives on top of the bookcase!

      SS single decal M42 (hkp66)

Hi, after seeing Jacob Caputo's work on here (many thanks to Jurgen) I went ahead and ordered a helmet from him. It's an original M42 hkp66 (SE) shell with repro liner/ chinstrap and a "2nd pattern" type decal which I think looks close enough to a 'Champagne' type (v. similar to ET decals) which would be applicable for this make of shell. Another nice touch is that Jacob dated it from the batch number to being made in August 1943, the last month that decals were applied at the factory. It portrays a mint unissued helmet of course!

BTW - the texture is the correct aluminium oxide and the decal is laquered for protection like some originals. The colour is his "medium field-grey" which is actually quite dark and a good match to originals I've owned over the years (including an original SS M40 ET64 sadly no longer in my hands....)

      Jacob Caputo:-

          Navy Visor

This is a nice ex-Bundesmarine visor that has new Cellon insignia. I'd like to tone it down a bit. Anyone have any suggestions to make the insignia a little older looking to match the visor embroidery?

          Thanks, John

              Navy Visor

Thanks for the excellent suggestion. I tried the black, but it was a little too much. So then I tried a mustard color and finally a medium brown. I think the medium brown worked the best and the results are great. Since this is celleon and the visor is bullion, I didn't need them to be exactly the same. Here are two shots of the results.

                  SS M40 by Jacob Caputo

Got my second helmet by Jacob today, an SS M40 ET66 (FYI shell manufactured April/ May 1940) with his aluminium-oxide textured medium field-grey and a '2nd pattern' ET type decal applicable for this helmet manufacturer - portraying a factory fresh helmet of course! I can't believe the superb turnaround time - ordered 7th August, shipped the 18th August, arrives the 23rd (from California to the UK) !
This helmet is a copy of an original ET single decal I owned in the 90's - it was in great condition, but not this mint!

                    Reichsbahn Visors

I made these Reichsbahn Visors back in 2004 for my Reichsbahn impression. The insignia used is reproduction. The tops are wool, the piping is Wool/Rayon, and the bands are Black Velvet.

GD43 was great, really quick and effective service, and a top of the line product, photo is a bit washed due to the flash.
