So the President of Georgia (the country, that is) apparently got his panties in a bind because a famed sculptor was criticizing him. So he decided a nice birthday to himself would be to have the sculptor's massive public monument to the Georgian soldiers of WWII blown up. It was an unpopular decision, so he had it dynamited it 2 days ahead of schedule to keep the public from showing up to stop the demolition crews. Of course, that also means they don't necessarily have time to take precautions to make sure people stay away from the freakin' blast site.
After they blew it up, a chunk of rubble zings into the village like a cannonball and kills a woman and her 8 year old daughter (this is actually caught on video, amazingly).

Video of the explosion, flying rubble, dead people (somewhat graphic) all in one shot. What are the chances?
