Finnish Soldiers at Camp Mabry, Texas April 21st

Hi All.....Thor(in Austin) and myself attended the annual Muster Day Event at Camp Mabry, Texas yesterday as WW2 "Continuation War" era Finnish soldiers. The reaction of the public was great, but as Desi told Lucy, we had a lot of " 'splanin"to do. Of course, a lot thought we were German, I get that because of certain helmet shapes, cut of tunic, etc. Some long time reenactors even thought we were Chinese Army...don't quite get that.
Anyway we had a great time, did a lot of educating and even did a little recruiting and may have picked up 2 more Finns!
I have loaded a few photos of the event for your perusal.
If anyone is in the Texas area and would like to join, we'd love to add you to the unit, We've got Jay Richards reproing the hard key pieces to get, like the breadbag and rucksack(his breadbag is outstanding and listed on his current catalog on his webpage) Uniforms are available from Hiki Shop, all the rest , plus weapons are totally available and reasonable. Cheers, Mike

So if you are in the area(and yes , I know Texas is big), we are actively building this Finnish unit. We are in contact with the Soviet group that has the land out at Zavalla, Texas(Building, trenches...GREAT SITE!) and they want to do some Winter and Continuation War with us. Let us hear from you! I would have to see the image, the Finns used the swastika, I think , before the Germaqns, hell native Americans and even the Romans in 3rd Century AD used the symbol....................not quite sure of why you are asking the question, please submit the photo and the reason you think he is Finnish, Mike

                  Greetings from Finland.

Very interesting to see finnish troops reenactment crews.
