      Hi,
Great footage and the best crusher cap ever at 1.41.

Birdie, thank you for putting this up.

The clarity of the footage is stunning and is well worth a look for anyone even remotely interested in the Waffen-SS.

As for the removal of the dead soldiers awards by a comrade......any suggestions are pure conjecture however, I too would like to think it would be for passing on to his family or just to prevent looting. That said, who knows........they may of been through our very own E-stand here and we would not of known!

        Regards Richard.
Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.

I think it was standart procedure when a soldier was killed to remove all his personal items, including badges, rings, half dog tag, etc. These soldiers are probably just repeating gestures they have performed all too many times.

                  Makes logical sense Jean -Loup,
                  I had a different thought:
I consider that a fellow soldier might take off medals ,etc. even to just throw them off into the bushes etc. if just to keep them from being sullied by the grubby hands of the despoiling victors as trophys to be gloated over.

I imagine most people would do somthing like that if they had no other options
                  in a similar situation.
