    There's a gazillion sites like this all over Europe. Unfortunately authorities have less a sense of nostalgia towards these finds than collectors or students of history.

      The point that sticks with me is that it was the German Reich that wanted these young men to go out there to fight and possibly (usually??) die for their country back in 1914-19...

      and now their country turns their back on them.

      it would be nice if one day Germans could find some middle ground between all their extremes and be able to remember the young lives laid down by guys that served for their country in a time of war.

      sure we have hindsight to debate all the rights and wrongs of the politics of the time...but these guys were there LIVING IT and paid the ultimate price.

      They at least deserve respect from the very nation that sent them to their death.
