    Tanks discovered in Norway

    Found in 2007 the serial numbers were checked and both served in Kursk...rebuilding this would be a job

          If I understand the prior stories, these 2 tanks served in russia & were then shipped to Norway?? I would have thought they would have had more need of tanks in Russia than Norway after Kursk!!

            There's 3 of them.


            Think of the time frame here..mid '43. By this time the Pz.III was woeully inadequate with it's 5cm gun, that's why they were returned to Germany for refitting as ausf.N with the short 7.5cm L/24 gun. As this panzer was of limited value it was sent to Norway\finland where they needed something but couldn't afford to send the good panzers.

            in fact, by the end of the war. Panzer abteilung Norwegen was only outfitted with the Panzer III and 10 Stug III.

            Norway and Finland were pretty way down the list when it came to equipment priority.
