Looking for a place in Russia

....and which WH unit was there in the period between the end of January and the early of February 1943....
I can't find it on the web, probably is wrongly written but any help will be greatly appreciated...
The name of the place should be LIMOWAJA and it should be in the Kursk area....

Hi!

The name is probably written correctly in German, since Limowaja would be spelled Limovaya in English. Looking up for Limovaya, it turned up that such a place exists in the Lipetsk area (spelled Lipezk in German), north of Voronezh, about 300km northeast of Kursk.

That's what I found out till now, plus a link that will maybe help about the unit(s) stationed there during that timeframe. I 'll make another post if it actually leads somewhere!

I think that the right name should be Limowojo and it's in the Orel district close to Liwny...would it be any connection, in this way, with Limovaya?

Found! the place is Limowojo and is located at 35Km sw of Liwny.
I need to know what happened on 01 February 1943 to the Stab II u. III/Art.Rgt. 383 . Is there any reference to book where to check?

I didn't find any results for Limowojo (Limovoyo in English), as I did for Limovaya, but I think that it actually is the same place. Liwny (Livny) is located about 60km west of Lipetsk, so I think that this is the place, yes!

The tough part is now finding out the battalion located in this particular village in that time... The only link I found was here, http://www.russland-kriegsgraeber.de/?p=4 through a google search, but navigation there is tough and the their search engine is awful. They mention somewhere "Limowaja, Lipezk, Woronesch", but I will have to go through all of the posts to possibly locate the unit and then look it up over at the Lexikon der Wehrmacht. I think I 'll need some time!

Edit: I just saw that you got me on the unit and actually saved me from a lot of work! I 'll see what I can find!

Edit 2: http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...Gliederung.htm states that the Regiment was stationed in the area of Voronezh since July 1942. Unfortunately they only inform that it was stationed in Orel since March 1943, which is further west. It was annihilated in June 1944. Good luck with further and more specific research!!!
