Look what landed in my town centre today!!

This week sees 7 days of celebrations in York to commemorate the French airmen who flew Halifax bombers from RAF Elvington during WW2.
Between June 1944 and October 1945 the Free French bomber squadrons flew 2,800 sorties. 41 aircraft were lost and 216 airman killed!

All this week French veterens will be visiting York and on Thursday there is a flypast by the Lancaster bomber and French Rafale jets!

Quite an event it seems - great opportunity to get people interested in the period!
