Jean-Loup, Yes, but amazing that a memorial honoring French soldiers from 1870 survived through two world wars, and a German occupation, twice, and it's still there!Comment

Thats true, but then again, after what happened to them in 1919, you would think they would have taken advantage of WW2 to knock them all down and put up a few of their own. (?) When I was in Northern France recently, and you know this better than me, I saw memorials everywhere, including ones honoring French soldiers and victories from WW1. Go figure.Comment
