Need help... How to crush a crusher cap?

Guys,

Need some pointers on how to crush a crusher cap for good!



I tried crushing it, but it keeps coming back to its original shape

it's a chinese crusher cap btw.. high front peak and no "bones".

Steam it and while it is damp use your fingers to pinch the area around the eagle. Keep taking it off and putting it back on your head. The Germans removed and put on their hats by using the front fingers to hold it in the center of the wool so they would not damage the bill of the cap. Eventually this creates a pinch point in the top center of the hat. The soldiers liked this 'pinch' because it made you look more like an Old Hare or Veteran. I used to have an original cap that had two crossing strings inside that formed an X shape to make a 'pinch'.

Another way is to soak the top section down to the top edge of the band in very hot water shke out the excess then put it on your head and shape it the way you want ti and either wear it till it drys or after shapeing it put it on a head form till dry. Some also remove the crown spring, top lining, and padding the do the hot water thing

If the cap has foam plastic padding,that would be the reason why it keeps reverting back to it original shape.
