    German Soldiers Personal Knives

    Greetings..

Im not sure where to post this so ill post it here..

I'm looking for pictures of privately purchased or personally field crafted knives used by German Soldiers. Ive seen some in war time photos but most are far off and obscured by the lack of quality of the pictures or other factors.

Ive seen some pictures of Gerbirgjager re-eancators carrying some personal, civilian styles hunting/utility knives but nothing in any sort of close in detail. I'm mostly interested in the sheaths and handles, decor and European cultural themes or that time period (WWII)

Any and all pictorial help would be appreciated..

Havn´t got any original pictures, but i can show you this.
I found it myself, all together near the 1945 Oder front.

This is a typical private purchased knife, you can find period ad´s from knifes like this one on the forum.
Nice detail: check out the snake-skin pouch that is for this knife! (its next to the silver spoon on the photo).

I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

Interesting Rick! What nationality were the coins? Just curious what.... if anything other than RM's would be carried on the Ost front?

I think those on the pics would be all reichsmark.
But on other times i found coins from various eastern front countries and even Western-European (only a few!).

I can add to that, that i got a letter of a KIA soldier that was send home, in which they listed all the belonings of the KIA soldier that was send with it.
It included Belgian money.. He was KIA in Bosnia and was on the easternfront before that!
But, who would trow away money?

Pfew, i´ve never held real snake-skin in my hands, but it looks really good.
I can see the separate Scale's.
But i'll try to make a picture later tonight, first dinner!
