Just heard that Custer's last flag or guidon was sold to an american private collector for only 1.9 million dollars! Darn, wish I would have known that it was for sale and sorry I missed out bidding on that gem!

Ha, ha...guess I'm out of the loop on that! By the way, what are your thoughts on that price, since you are an expert? I think that it's a shame that flag is not in a museum like the Smithsonian. Reminds me of the famous Queen's Colour of the 1/24th retrieved after the Isandlwana disaster.

      Thanks, Eric

I saw this on local TV news today in the Detroit area, museum lady said they were going to use the proceeds to by native Amercan stuff.
I suppose some would see that as poetic justice, others not.
I haven't been to the art institute in years, I had no idea they had it.
From what I heard, when it wasn't loaned out it was just stashed away anyhow, almost as if they were ashamed of it ,,, Said it "just didn't fit in with our focus".

Below shows the 24th Colours, hanging in cased plastic boxes,
in the regimental church in Wales. I enjoy having a film version.

                  Custer Guidon?

Eric, "Mumbo Jumbo" is right. But the museum certainly made out!
