    Contacting veterans

    Hi!

My name is Per and I'm 19 years old (20 years old the first of December) and I collect German and US military items. I have been collecting since six years and it is one of my biggest interest. Maybe one day I will have such a big collection so I can open my own museum... That would be a dream, but it isn't possible yet!

During my six years in this hobbie I have contact many World War 2 veterans; German and US veterans. Thanks to this forum I have got many addresses and much help! The veterans has also been very kind, a few does not reply but most do! For example an US paratrooper I wrote to, he sent me a original photo of him in Italy and a German breast eagle. I have many on this forum to thank for helping me with my interest and collection.

I wonder if someone here knows anyone, who have seen the war, who has been there, who has fought against the Germans, that would like to get a letter from a young Swedish collector that wants to ask a few questions? I am interested to write to allied paratroopers, pilots or other. I do NOT ask the veterans to give me items, I ask them about their time during World War 2.

If you feel that you want to help me, contact me via PM.

    Best wishes from Per Jonasson.

Sorry my friend, but this you must do on your own as I and most others have done...In my case with German veterans. Not USA vets. You need to understand that meeting a vet is a very personal connection and no one iswilling to "betray" their friend by exposing their friend to a complete stranger. So my advise to you is to search on your own and not rely on others cos we are all reluctant to betray our friends. It's all about loyalty and respect for one's friends...

When a vet replied, ask him for adresses of comrades, that way you get them "1st hand".

Had our Purple Heart convention a few months back and we have several WW2 veterans there. Quite a few landed on D-Day. I also am friends with several German veterans. Send me a message with your contact information and I'll ask the D-Day guys if they want to talk to you.
