    Reinhard Heydrich in a story

    Hi folks!

I'm about to use Reinhard Heydrich in a story of mine (the story borders on the theme of war/science fiction / fantasy and Reinhard is portrayed as a monster beyond what he done in real life.

Would I face any hurdle if I do so?

I disagree with you , I do not think is a good idea to portrayed historic figures as a monster's beyond what they're done in real life. I call this Rewriting history in a very bad way ( just my opinion ).

When using a well known figure like this you will make no one happy by embellishing the facts. Purists will pick it apart, and thew truely ignorant will not believe it. How do you make him worse than he was, anyways?

The story is set in an alternate reality where Reinhard Heydrich survives the assassination attempt on his life to go on to become the ruler of the world.

In the story, he turns on everyone and everything he loves in his quest for perfection attempting to become a living god. He invents ICBMs right in the end of 1940s and uses it on his enemies to exterminate much of the world. Then he turns on his own countrymen in his effort to rewrite the slate on the perfect human genetic code.

You can guess it is a science fiction story set in the realms of fantasy.

I think a historicaly oriented forum is not the proper place to find support for a science-fiction-history project. It is kind of like asking a feminist forum what they think about a new female porn star.

JL you can really turn a phrase when you want to. Your analogy is spot on.

Try using Shreck as the main villian. Jacques

There would be no legal hurdle aside from it being in bad taste. You might want to check this out though :

"The Man in the High Castle" was appropriate from a poetic point of view as the author had a gnostic spiritual world view and there was a part of the early nazi movement that was also gnostically inspired in a millenarianistic religious - political way.
