Sounds like the usual mouth incontinence, otherwise known as diarrhea of the mouth. Couple of things: I'm Italian and so you are directly insulting me for no reason other than you are apparently good ol boys trying to peer pressure anyone who wants to do Italian into the back of the bus. Well the Civil Rights march already happend, time to put the hostility away and the derision and comments when someone you don't like passes in front of you.

But if I have to be insulted and provoked I guess I can easily respond in kind: I suppose that's why you don't reenact Pacific theater? Because you would have to drop your rifle and spend the rest of the reenactment in a Jap POW pen? Or Dunkirk because you have to swim all reenactment long? Or Eastern Front more acturately reenacted according to your own logical processes as Germans standing there like a deer in the middle of the road while you get slammed, put on the car hood and walked to a freezer?

I'm tired of the pot shots and attacks you losers feel entitled to, this is every time someone tries to enjoy the hobby doing something you personally don't respect, either out of simple village idiot ignorance or because you were the dislexic kids sitting in the back of the class and now you try to get even by dumping on other people. No one invited you here, so why don't you take your issues back to your AA meetings and make sure you don't load your BIG MANLY guns and shoot someone at a reenactment?

Thanks in advance for being predictable with your next bout of mouth incontinence that I'm sure you can't "resist" but I got work for a living.

Well IFG the Italian army had its strong points and its weak. The weapons were definitely the weak. Please do not take any personal offense from what Allan and I have said. It was merely a jest that you didn't need to get angry about. As for the fact of spending the weekend in a Japanese prisioner of War camp, it all depends on what era you reenact. The italian army jus sort of switched sides when their side was losing, which is a real stab in the back to those counting on them being there to fight, and especially for their homeland. But of course there were the Italians who stayed with the German army to fight and sometimes die to preserve what they were fighting for. That is what is reenacted and that is why certain people, groups, divisions and even armies are held in such high regard. The Germans on the east front could not help the fact that they were fighting an expendable army where waves and waves of men came at you and you continued firing until your gun over heated, jammed usw..

So I guess all in all, the thing here is that you need to not take so much offense and just live with the fact that a lot of the Italian army gear was bad.

That's nice "Rolf" but a passionate apology for the Germans (almost as if you were really one) always sounds to me like groupie drivel. And if you were even qualified to speak I guess I "could live with it" as you say, problem is that no one asked you to come and give me crap about what cowards the Italians are in your and your buddy's opinion, or what in your "professional opinion" was or was not good about the Italian Army or who betrayed whom. You volunteered all these things. So don't lecture me about proper behavior between countries when you don't even know proper behavior between people! I took my lecturing at the U of NY, two degrees worth, and I certainly didn't ask for nor do I need yours.

But if I have to waste some time then I have to say what a nice solid argument you made, as if the Germans didn't back stab the Russians after signing a non-aggression treaty and then invading their country. As if the Poles fighting for England weren't stabbed in the back by the Allies. As if it wasn't the "admired" Finns who really changed sides, entirely, because it was the whole country that went to the Soviets against their former Ally the Germans.

Need I go on? My posting an invitation to come to our forum was not an invitation for harassment and pointless debate with someone with a bias a mile long, and who on top of it has a selective knowledge of history. The Italians were also promised by the Germans to be supplied with weapons to fight, if they were to enter the war, as stipulated by formal agreement, so the Germans not keeping their promise of support was not a stab in the back? The Italians wanted weapons not German troops to enter their sphere. The Brits and Russians were heavily supplied by their US ally, if similarly the US hadn't been the "arsenal of democracy" then would that have been a stab in the back to the allies? The Germans invading the Italian sphere in the Balkans taking the much needed raw materials was not a stab in the back? Signing a separate peace treaty and armistice with the Greeks against the Pact of Steel was not a stab in the back?

It seems to me that your defense of the Germans and likewise your attack of the Italians lacks more than a few key facts. Despite the dumping the Germans did on the Italians and all their other "allies" in Europe, they and you still have the nerve to cry foul? So when later some Italians justifiably got fed up of the abusing relationship between what were supposed to be partners and many thought the war was already way past being lost, those Italians are to blame? Despite this uneven relationship, the majority of Italians rallyed against the phoney Sept. 8 "armistice" and created the RSI still on the side of the Germans. And by the way the admirable, all along the straight-playing and loyal Hitler tacitly allowed the Badoglio government take-over to happen. Where was the great ally Hitler when Mussolini was deposed instead of supporting his government? So just what is it that you know about history exactly?? And who the hell ever started any talk about "gear," I didn't, but if I did I'd have a lot more technical things to say than you could chew. No, you jumped in and started insulting me and the memory of my relatives who died fighting in the war, never mind my national identity.

And so as far as the "jest" is concerned, you guys didn't say it because you thought I'd get a chuckle out of it, because it's not funny even as basic humor, it's just cheap grade school harassment, the kind of "jokes" you make behind the back of minorities. But you insist that was funny, ok, let's put that to a test? Can we turn the tables around for a moment to see how it would work if you were on the receiving end? How funny would it be if I said about Vietnam reenactors that dumping Hueys in the harbor and setting sail back home for the weekend makes the accurate reenactment? Or spending the whole weekend smoking pot instead of fighting or Spending the weekend playing Russian roulette like in "deer hunter?" would that be funny to you? But this is exactly your view of history, cheap propaganda movies and well illustrated osprey books.

Would it be funny if I said that at least we lost the war against a combined invasion of the two top Western industrial giants of the time and not to Vietnam? That's right, if it's a shame to have been beaten by the entire British Commonwealth, the USA and Russia together well I guess your scales must be "loaded" to one side. But unlike you I don't go around dumping this crap, so don't dump it on me, don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining. First and second "golden rule" you should have learned a long time ago.

So case closed as far as I'm concerned, this board was opened for inviting people to our forum, if you don't care to take us up on the invitation then I would appreciate it if you please go vent your anti-Italian issues onto another board, I'm sure you only have the pick.

Hi Guys, please leave this. I will not tolerate name calling etc.

Thank you for posting the link. There are not many Italian units represented and it is nice to see someone taking an interest.

                Cheers, Ade.

Take it easy on us dry humoured Germans, IFG. Have a little fun, nothing should be taken too seriously. We here respect you (even without mentioning "the book").
                              Cheers, Frank
