It is known that U-570 was captured by Brithis on 27th August 1941
On the morning of 24 August, U-570 was put to sea on her first war patrol. U-570 was located 70 sea miles south of Iceland. I don´t know why, but U-570 surfaced there and RAF L. Hudson bomber operating from Iceland detected the U-boat.
From long story to short. The U-570 crew gave up, the Brithis capture the U-boat and was towed it to South coast of Iceland up to the beach near town Thorlakshofn (Þorlákshöfn). The U-570 was on beach for few days. Then she was re-floated and towed around the coast to the British naval base at Hvalfjord where repairs were made that would enable her to make the trip to Britain under her own power.
U-570 was renamed to HMS Graph and was used in the war against the Third Reich untill 1944.

These few days while U-570 was beached at Thorlakshofn. Two or three local people from Thorlakshofn went on board on U-570 without British guards notice them, out of curiosity they just wanted to see this U-boat that was on there beach.
They also wanted to take some souvenirs. There was this Eagle, the took it and didn´t tell anyone about it.
It´s safe and sound in privat collection here in Iceland, Enjoy
