It cost a lot of money to run a POW camp. Even the Nazis saw the value of sponsorship.

Actually Col. Klink and Sgt Schultz were Jewish in real life.

There was a commercial back in the '60s in which a German uboat was being tracked and a KM sailor had a bag of Lays potato chips. He bit one, "CRUNCH" and the next thing you know the crew is shown on the surface in a lifeboat. It had a song that went with it that went "He tried, but he couldn't do it....".

Funny the crap that we remember after 40 years.

LOL, Jack, I remember that oneActually, Klink's father, Otto Klemperer, was one of Germany's greatest conductors and composers, and I remember him on a West German postage stamp.

I like how they use Klink's pickelhaube as a serving dome.

                        Hello Svt40:
Interesting statement, so I checked online and found the following:
"For any Nazi members that had military ambitions, they entered the
Waffen SS, since they were forbidden in the Wehrmacht. In order to
join the Wehrmacht, National Socialist members had to surrender
their party card." Don't know the source of this information, but on
the surface it would seem to vindicate you of any professed insanity.
But likewise I do recall seeing Reinhard Heydrich in a Luftwaffe uniform.

Probably because he was a pilot and even flew Me-109E fighter. I am not sure whether he participated in real combat, but it was much better to be in a LW uniform, than in SS chief uniform, in case of falling behind enemy lines

Here is one /two in fact/ very cool Bulgarian contemporary advert for sausages, largely based on the Allo Allo series

Not taking it any other way.

I am just so used to correcting people when they see the stuff I collect it's become habit.
