    J. D. Salinger

The author J. D. Salinger who wrote The Catcher in the Rye passed away on Wednsday. J. D. Salinger was a veteran of W.W. II who served in the 4th Infantry Division, landed on Normandy Beach and later fought in the horrific campaign in the Hurtgen Forest. Salinger was sent to Valley Forge Military Academy as a young man. Also attending and in his class was my father, Douglas T. Schrack.

He also was in hospital for a while, after getting a "front shock". I really enjoyed his work, I have "The catcher in the rye" three times in my book shelf.
