For remember 36th US division at S.Pietro Infine, (Italy), december 1943

Today there was a solemn commemoration ceremony at the village of San Pietro Infine, <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:metricconverter w:st="on" ProductID="20 miles">20 miles</st1:metricconverter> south of Cassino, to remember the tragic events of December 1943.
For those who do not know, St. Peter Infine was the scene of fierce battles between U.S. troops of 36 division "Texas" and the Germans, who sought to delay the Allied advance as possible to give way to finish the work on Gustav line in front of Cassino. The village was totally destroyed, so that was rebuilt after the war a little more distant. The old town is now a national monument and has been left as it was in 1943, to remind the new generations the madness of war.

Finally St. Peter's was made famous by the documentary of Jhon Houston "The Battle for San Pietro," which was censored in part by the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">US</st1lace></st1:country-region> Chief of Staff George Marshall as it was considered too truthful to the Americans at home.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

I start my little reportage with some shot about St. Pietro Infine Today
