Sometimes random people send me emails concerning finding remains of WW2 german soldiers. I got an email like that today from a guy in Normandy. Here is the translation:
"I know somebody who found some remains of German soldiers during the construction of his swiming pool. According to him there were dog tags, belts, helmets and remains of hob nail boot soles... The worste in all this is that since this person had had difficulty getting a construction permit, he didnt want to call the police, and he threw all this evidence into the garbage, so as not to put his swiming pool into peril. I find this more then intolerable, these human remains will be lost for ever, and these bodies will not even have the right to have the simple mention "Ein Deutscher Soldat" on their grave, let alone their name and surname."
Unfortunately, I think this happens very often. People are terrified that "the archeologists" will come, and their construction will be halted for ever.
I one met a guy who had witnessed french soldier's bodies being treated in the same way. The bones were put deep under some cement, to make sure "the archeologists" wouldnt find them.
