I heard about one other Hitler joke that didn't go so well.

Early days, probably 1922 or so, Hitler had a vehicle that he was very proud of, particularly its speed.
There was some discussion about the merits of another persons vehicle vs his, and a bet was made that, even with a 5 minute head start, Hitler could beat the other vehicle to the next town.

These 2, and I forgot who they were, accepted, and took off down the road, out of sight.
They shortly pulled over behind some foliage and, sure enough, there goes Hitler 5 minutes later, racing by.

Hitler of course was expecting to catch up with these guys any minute, and he never did, because they were behind him.
When the guys came to town and explained their little joke, Hitler was not in the least amused, and were instantly sorry that they decided to test the budding Führer's sense of humor ,, Or lack thereof.

I don't belong to it to glorify old Nazis like a lot of newbies do.
I didn't realize you have to be a member of the party to participate. And who are you? The great warlock that chastises nonbelievers of aryan superiority?

I collect history. I also collect samurai swords but that doesnt make want to be Japanese. That would really pizz my dad off. The reason he stopped having kids at 2 was he had heard every 3rd person born in the world was oriental.

But you do need to remember the rules of the forum ( Not here to glorify Nazis) I believe that shedding crocodile tears and giving the Nazi salute while standing in front of the mirror wearing a German helmet and feeling sorry some old nazi crud bit the dust is lame at best.

Wow , I cannot believe the total egnorance of some members here , Does anyone believe that just because one was a NAZI , they were a NAZI at heart .
If that is the truth as this Einstein above me thinks , Then I should just label my own Grandfather a Nazi crud , He had to join the Nazi party because he wanted to go to a University , he later served at the eastern front and as the war drew longer he despised the NAZI party but he had to keep his thoughts to himself , My Grandfather once told me " during those times , you had to think with your heart but talk with your head " Just remember EINSTEIN ...you were not there and history is written by the victors not the loosers ,

One more thing Einstein , I served 6 years in the United States Marine Corps with honor and as a Veteran , I have paid my dues . I love my country and respect my God , I am a REPUBLICAN. I have kept the same job for 21 years snd have never had anything handed to me , my parents never gave a dime since I graduated from high school .
It is real easy for a CRUD like yourself to judge people . Why dont you try living in a Socialist Country for a Year and see how you manage life .

O.K. . . . so I HAVE to ask - have you ever ran out of wall-space for all of the photos?

I have taken a moment to think about "I remember him for his military service with respect, owed to any soldier in any war from any country", and I wonder . . . would we truly agree that such a statement would apply to ANY soldier based on military service attained? Would there not be some that could be excluded? I know it's cliche, but let's take Mengele for example - what level of respect would we give to him for military service? It's true that he had front-line combat experience, and was even decorated . . . would that be reason enough to overlook certain other deeds he may have participated in, and speak out for a showing of respect? It's curious to me how broad such a statement like this is . . .

I never met Mr. Darges, and other than what is written in textbooks, don't know much about him. You obviously have met Mr. Darges Mark, and certainly would have a better opportunity to form a valued opinion than I. I do see some argument to the effect that it is narrow-minded only to believe in what is written in the textbooks, and not to think further in depth. One must consider the source of all information presented at all times, and balance the value one places in such . . . In the same breath, I do also recognize how the opinions of Mr. Darges by some could be formed based on the previously established collective-history for that regime of which he is most associated with (guilt by association, I think?) . . . it is very difficult to really grasp the entire picture of one person at times, and much easier to simply place him into a previously established circle - whether it is circle of guilt, or a circle of respect . . .

Something I often wonder when I read others comments about all of these great figures of history we seem to argue over in endless fashion . . .
