Are there any Kübelwagen experts out there ???

HI.

I have some questions about this küble. As you can see on the photo this car has no shovel and windshield holder.
Were these holders removed or does a variation like this exist ??

The owner also told me that the varnish is the original one,
could this be real ??? The car was build in 1944, did Vw still varnish
the kübelwagen in beige 1944??????

Hi Kelte, there is no way that is original paint on that Kuble. There is no age to it at all. (I own an original 1942 Jeep, so I know about how paint ages on a WW2 vehicle )

The paint is the correct colour, as from 1943, tan yellow was the standard paint colour applied to all vehicles at the factory.

On the photo the varnish looks new, thats right. But that´s only because the photo was made with flashlight. I forget to say that.
The man own´s the car since 35 years, and in this period the car was not
varnished. That is the only thing thats for sure.

On the side that mudsharkangler posted I have read that there was a civil version of the Typ82 that was varnished in beige . Maybe thats the awnser.

There is a lot wrong with this vehicle saying it is an original untouched 1944 Kubel. Firstly the paintwork looks brand new and probably is, the blackout light (notek) is a wrong pattern in 1944 Kubels were not fitted with hubcaps or even hubcap clips, I would think the absence of a shovel mount is an oversight by the person who rebuilt it also it appears to have very early side sills and not the later sills with central jacking points, these are just a few points but show it can't possibly be an untouched vehicle as described. There are several more things wrong with this vehicle but I won't bore you all with a long list
