    Outstanding before & after shots! Thanks for posting. Is that a MG cave in the cliff behind the tower and below the cross?

      As an added note the original Ludendorf bridge sign which was reversed and painted with "cross the Rhine with dry feet courtesy of the 9th armored div." hangs in the Patton Museum in Ft. Knox. Or something to that effect......

        Hi Eric,

        That hole/cave in the side of the mountain always facinated me !

        Im thinking more along the lines of Flak or Atillerie Position, thats just my guess.

                          I visited it around 1992 when based in BAOR, here are a couple of other plaques. The funny thing was, I had planned on crossing this bridge during my trip, and was somewhat surprised to find no bridge! I had not realised that the film was made in Czechoslovakia - there was no google in those days LOL!
