He betrayed the plotters of the 20th of July
He denied the reality of the holocaust after the war
He fled to spain to escape german justice
a faithful, objective and reliable person i presume...

There is an interview with Otto Remer in the "Inside the Reich" episode of the World at War.

Here is a still from the interview. If you look on the shelf behind him, it appears he kept a souvenir?

Regardless of his political beliefs, he was a very brave officer.

              Remer

At one time I had a signed picture card of Remer. I should have kept it but at the time I felt uneasy about looking at it, so got rid of it.

He did what he had to do as a German officer. And he did it well.

Personal beliefs and political opinions are free... for both Remer and the men or the 20th of july...

Although he wasn't a war criminal, why should he stay in Germany to "escape" the "German justice" after 1945? The justice of the winning allied, which only knew ONE side, beeing blind to the other ?

                Kind regards,

                Peter

he went to spain not to escape allied justice but because he published material inciting racial hatred in 1992 for which he was sentenced to 2 years in prison by a german court...he split before they could lock him up..and eventually died there

                          "Genau

I always get uneasy when I see forum members who think that an oath is more important then human rights, intelligence, and basic humanity.
He kept his oath to one of the most tyranic dictators of all time, what a great honnorable man!

Life must be very easy seeing the world only with a "left" eye and only in "black & white".... but as said before: opinions are free !
