    Hello Guys,

Can some tell me what is needed for making a zeltbahn tent (for two persons) and how you build it?

    thanks in advance!

    hello

    for two people,

four zeltbahns (button together to make a pyramid, one set of tent poles (come in threes, in the middle) and four tent pegs for each corner.

do a search in the equipment forum for zeltbahns, you should find more info

    Cheers

A WW2 German veteran that I spoke with years ago said that he only could remember making a zelt tent once. He said they simply rolled up in the zelt and slept on the ground or in any sort of shelter they could find usually.

Keep in mind 1 zeltbahn per Soldat.

            Hello,
Yes in theory one soldier = one Zeltbahn
There is no combinaison that includes two Zeltbahnen only.
Tents of Zeltbahnen were made of 4, 8, 16, 32.....
With the help of a tree, you can make a shelter with one Zeltbahn, but not a shelter you can sleep in, unless you like to sleep while sitting on the ground.

If you are going to use a zelt tent for reenacting I would suggest the following...

Use four zelts for two people and use four tent poles instead of three. This will give more head room and a "tighter siding". Trying to sleep four in a four zelt tent is going to be awfully cramped.

Here's a pic using repop zelts...

              Best regards, fischer

You use the long rope if you are makeing a shelter from a single zelt or if you have a zelt tent you can use the extra tent pole to hold up one panel like an awning over the opening and use 2 ropes as guy wires. But if you are making just a 4 zelt tent all you need are 4 zelts buttoned together the poles and 4 pegs or add 4 more pegs for the center rope loops. The picture posted above pretty well explains everything even what the long ropes are for you just can't see the extra poles and the ropes on the left side of the piture

                        Pzrwest,

Ok I get it, I know how. But how do you atach the metal pegs to the small rope that is in the middel, do you need another different pegs?

I never use the long piece of rope. I button up the zelts and leave one corner un-buttoned. When you are inside for the night, button it up and you are good to go.

I have pieces of rope on the four corners and in the middle of each zelt. You will need 3 more pins for the sides, you don't need one for the door.

                          Best Regards, fischer

                            Fischer,

                            Thanks!

I brought three extra metal pegs, so I am compleet. I do not need extra small ropes for the corners right? Or is it a must, to let the tent stand strong against wind or else?

                            Cheers

I use a small piece of rope in the corners to avoid driving the peg through the grommet.

When I first used the grommet it was fine but hitting in the spike several times caused it to come loose.

                              I recommend using rope.
