Just found out about this. Nothing to remarkable about this ship save for the fact it was scrapped in 1973

Well the German Government tried to purchase the ship back in the 1960 but their offer was turned down. Ten years later, when the Turkish decided to let it go, it was the Germans that refused the offer. A series of HUGE mistakes. It would be nice to have a battlecruiser of the Kaiserliche Marine still with us...

But it is not an isolated decision. A lot of other hsitorical vessels found their inglorius fate in the scrapyard... The USS Enterprise (from WWII) was one of them.
