wow, i love this plane, only the color is imo not so perfect. a light grey is better, i saw the original one in the air and space museum in wasington int the year 1994.

Very interesting. I corresponded with Walter Horten twenty years ago, and he sent me some sketches of the 229. The real question is: when is the Smithsonian going to restore this incredible aircraft?

        4x 3cm MG´s...in wood frame.

Totally undetected by radars of ww2 times.

Quite advanced technics,i can imagine hundreds of these ready in early stages of WW2 in hands of pilots like Hartmann and Rall...Europe would look different nowdays...

I read somewhere that the Horten brother did not get the funds they asked for to develop this fine aircraft. In February 1945 it appears that the leaders of the Reich had a change of mind. Herman Göring came to them asked if it could carry the atomic bomb. As far as i recall from my reading the Horten brothers answered Göring that this should not be a problem.

Its a crime that the original prototype of the Ho 229 is still in a wearhouse an not in a musea, where it belongs! - or even back to Germany it self.

              Hi,
I first saw this aircraft 20 years ago at silverhill when i had a private tour of the hanger were it had been kept over the years there were many strange and rare aircraft in that hanger,Do335 while it was still wrapped in bubble wrap,Bacham Natter ,the japaneese 262 ,the japaneese carnard aircraft and a flying saucer made in the US, as long as i live i will never forget the experiance of going there ,as fore the 229 was it's correct designation Horton IX /Gotha 229 ? as for the stealth idea imo that was just a byproduct of the design as the Horton brothers had been building all wing design all there life a long time before radar was invented.do have some photos somewere of my visit
              All the best
