    D-Day 2009 The Queen isn't invited!!!

I knew that the politicians are a poor bunch of uneducated people (especially in France) but this time it goes really too far. Is it stupidity or ignorance? Can you believe that? The french government didn't invite the Queen! Don't they have any notion of history. Did they read books? I don't know. I am lost. What a shame. It is f*cking pathetic. They don't even know that she served during WWII

Maybe she is too old for a landing now?

Lets hope they invited and give good hospitatlity to as many Vets as possible

Do not make the mixture between the French population and the government. Doubtless this last one is too much occupied with locking the free access to internet and other restrictive measures. Due to runningeverywhere, our President has of to forget to invite the Queen. As for me, I forget no soldier allied in this day of remembrance...

            Best regards

They invited the Prime Minister. As they invited other heads of state. Isn't that the proper protocol?

I much prefer this French president over the last one. I am sure Sarkozy will pay a better tribute to Allied soliders than Chirac did.

Her Majesty as our head of State should have been invited. Plus the fact she is a veteran herself, having served in the ATS. I am sure she will now get an invite. But the event should be about the Vets and not politians.

                  Cheers, Ade.

It seems that the French President is too busy with the Bruni affair to pay attention to good manners
She should have been invited, even if she was not a vet...

I am no royalist but I can't believe that ass Sarkozy didn't invite the queen. Next he'll be claiming all his relatives were in the resistance!

Certainly most of the British vets there on the day care more for what the queen stands for than what the elected leaders stand for who will be there.

And as she is loaded she wouldn't need to fiddle her expenses to get there unlike that numbnuts Brown. He better make sure he gets a receipt for everything he spends!

Still I have no doubt that the majority of the people of Normandy know who did what and for whom - you just need to see the military cemeteries in Normandy to work that out - and they will not let self seeking politicians grab the glory.

My friends Dad will be there - served on Flower Class Corvettes during the landing to keep the U boats at bay - let's hope for a fitting tribute.

I read a french article about this, and apparently this whole story is just the press trying to create a good old scandal.
The french article said the queen has not always been invited in the past, and that the brits are free to organise their delegation as they want, and the queen is welcome.
Buckingham palace said they have taken no particular offense over the whole story....
