Events in Summer of 2009

Don't you belong to the Texas Military Historical Society (TMHS)?

I have gone to events with them, but , as far as it seems, no events in Texas that I know of until the Fall...which is a shame as we could be doing Afrika or Southern Italy or Russia....
so , I'm looking for good summer events(even just living history)outside of Texas, I have put together a fairly extensive communication impression with radios, field phones, restored 1942 Junior Werke Truppenfahrrad, etc and have some time to "play"....again, I can't find anything going on in Texas, so that is why I posted. If you know of some events, let me know...besides , apparently TMHS is in "flux" with the old board(mostly French) leaving and a new board elected, so I don't know who even to contact. I tried several weeks back to join their Yahoo site....still waiting....and I hate politics in living history, I'll work on events, help out when I'm there, etc, but internal bs is not what the hobby should be, so I stay clear of that. I was going to formally join TMHS after Camp Mabry in April, but again, I don't know who to contact, Mike

Mike, I went down to Camp Mabry in April to see some of my old friends (I belonged to the TMHS when I lived in Texas) and I heard that there was some politics being played and some "If I don't get my way, I am taking my toys and going home" stuff.
I take it that you are doing German so the 2nd SS would be a decent unit to join, they have been around for ages. If you will send me your email address I will forward it to a member of that unit. I think they take it pretty easy during the hot months and concentrate on Sept-April usually.
