    Zulu battlefield at Isanlwana

Who's visited the area? Would love to see the battlefield and wondering if logistically possible.

    Thanks, Eric

Eric, it is very easy to visit the battlefield. There a many lodges in the area that offer battlefield tours and guides to both Insandlanwana and Rourkes drifts. It is also close to many Boer war battle fields. It is a trip well worth making. One of the tours are world renowned and put together with great insight from both the Zulu and British perspective and gives very detailed insight in the battle.

    Hope this help. Jacques

Are you planning to visit SA. I would also recommend you getting the Rattray audio books. It is unbelievable to listen to david Rattray tell the story of the Day of the Dead moon. I have never heard anything as fascinating as it. Jacques

Outstanding pictures! Thanks. By the way, how many English soldiers were killed and how many survived during the battle? What did you think of the movie Zulu?

                      Hello Eric,

Approx 850 British soldiers were killed, with about 50 escaping.

As for the film 'Zulu' - it is one of my all time favourites, as pure cinema it is awesome, especially when watched on a blu-ray player with surround sound. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...highlight=zulu There is one edition which comes with another DVD, with one of the filmmakers narrating over the top and explaining in detail certain scenes, characters etc. Also check out this thread http://britishmilitariaforums.yuku.c...in-Hi-Def.html

I was shocked to learn that David Rattray was gunned down and killed in 2007 at his Drifter's Lodge by a bunch of thugs....

That is the sad part of this country. The murderers were captured a few days later and jailed for life. What a waste, killed for a few household items. Jacques
