Belgium and France WW1 WW2 Battlefields, What to visit?

I`m renting a car in Belgium next week for 6 days and was looking for some advice on what to see? I`ll planning of going to Mons, Vimy, the Somme, and those areas, but am unsure what `must see`sights there are? Later, I`ll be driving down the coast of France to see the dday landing sites. Any ideas would be helpful and very much appreciated.

Thomas, sounds like you are going into a target rich environment for battlefields. Seems as about where ever you go you will run into one.

Hello Thomas,

Some tips:
- Waterloo, not only visit the lion mount village but go hiking on the battlefield.
- The Belgian army museum in Brussels.
- Hike on the super structure of fort Eben-Emael.
- Fort Loncin (a Liege fort that exploded on August 15 1914 and his crew was buried alive).
- Sipo/SD prison fort Breendonk (one of the best preserved concentrationcamps).
- Menin gate in Ypres and the WW1 battlefields in the West of Belgium.
- Hiking in the Ardennen forest.


But no worry, military history is going to be all around you!
