    Anyone going to Normandy?

With the big 65th anniversary this June, seems only right to hop over the channel and be there for it.

Who's going, and where are you staying etc?

    Cheers

    Chris

I will be going there with some friends. We're planning to stay from the 30 May till 14 June on a camp site at St.marie-du-Mont, close to Carentan.

It will be a horrible long drive from Holland as we're going to travel with a 1944 Dodge Command Car and a 1942 Dodge Ambulance, as well as a Willys Jeep.

What are the big events you guys are planning to see?

Fireworks over Pegasus Bridge at 12:20am on the Sat (June 6) will be a good one to attend. And there are a few things going on in Carentan etc over on the 'US side.'

Useful link here of all the main spectacles:

              Normandy 2009

I too will be there for the anniversary. I am escorting two 101st Airborne veteran friends who will be attending as the guests of honor for the Brothers in Arms March at the Deadman's Corner Museum near St. Come-du-Mont.

On June 5th we will be at the Utah Beach Museum where they will be with another friend of ours for the signing of his new book about their battalion in Normandy in 1944.

On June 6-8 we will be at the American encampment behind the Deadman's Corner Museum for book signings again as well as Ceremonies in St. Come-du-Mont.

If anyone is in the area, come and say hello to my friends and hear their stories about parachuting in on the night of 6/5/1944...
