Hotel Zum Turken: NO MORE VISITORS

It seems that the Zum Turken's days are truly numbered . . . I just received the following message :

    Quote:

The rumors had been flying like mad for the past week - our Member and my best female friend in Europe, INGRID SCHARFENBERG (3308-A/LIFE1993) suffered a stroke. It is not necessary to retell all the wildly different rumors that were told. You know how rumors can build and build until truth is left far in the distance. Here is the truth.

I just spoke to INGRID an hour ago. Thank God it was minor and she is back to her former fiery self, ready to do battle with the Devil himself if necessary. Her decision to close the hotel remains firm but the bunkers beneath the hotel are still open to visitors. We will visit her and these bunkers during our "Southern Redoubt Patrol" in June but we will stay in another hotel nearby. So to those who thought INGRID to be reduced to a babbling idiot or worse yet that she was dead, we are most pleased to report that she is neither - she is her former self - and thank God for that!

I just heard from the Frau this morning by e-mail, and she mentioned that she is not giving up hope - at least not yet. Apparently, she is still seeking someone to help her run the day-to-day business of Hotel guests, and when she does, she hopes to begin confirming future reservations again. I guess it is only the beginning of March . . . who knows - maybe someone will hire on soon? For now, she feels comfortable operating the Bunker, but not the Hotel yet.

If she does not manage to pull together another year, she told us last Fall that the Bavarian Government is ready to step in fast - and we all know what that would entail . . .

She seems like she is still in good spirits, and still has much fight left to give . . . let's hope she finds some help soon, and her health improves dramatically.

          NEW DEVELOPMENT:

HELP THE ZUM TURKEN AND FRAU SCHARFENBERG

No joke - this is on the level. There is no contest to enter, nothing to buy, no raffle chances...........if you want a free Bavarian vacation for two weeks up to one month, it is yours!

We are working to help our dear friend Ingrid Scharfenberg keep her beautiful and historic Hotel zum Tuerken open and at the same time, give a holiday for Sharkhunters Members in an incredibly beautiful mountain area.

You would help with the breakfast inthe morning then in the evening, you would sit in the main room and chat with guests. Not a tough job at all, right? In return, you get your room and breakfast supplied.

          Interested? Let us know.

Sadly, Frau Ingrid Scharfenberg, owner of the Hotel zum Tuerken on the Obersalzberg, passed away on February 17.

As to the future of the hotel ... who knows? There is no-one currently there to take over and run the hotel.

I received an email from Monika asking me to make reservations in April as they were unable to make them at the moment. So it may be they are going to continue with the Hotel. I hope so!!
Might not be the most luxurious hotel in the world, but its atmosphere is unfortgettable
