    Today in the Arddenes

Having visited La Gleize a few times I was determined to find the "Panther" barrel as shown in the excellent "The Battle of the Bulge Then and Now".

At last I found out where it is, quite close to the road, but not obvious!

There are other barrels I have seen, including 4 75mm Pak barrels holding up the roof of a barn!!

Outstanding!!! I have hunted for hours for that thing, and never found it! Great to see it. Benno Deckers was going to take me there, but we never got around to it. Can you pinpoint on a map of that village just where it is?

      Thanks for showing,
      Greg

Is that really a gun barrel? Looks like a pipe? If it is a panzer barrel, where is the rest of the gun? Would be interesting to know it's history.

        Thanks for posting, Eric

            Eric,
Yup that really is a barrel. What you are seeing there is about 6-7 feet of of the end of a tank gun barrel. The end has the thread for the muzzle brake and the retaining collar. In Jean-Paul Palluds "BoB then and now" he calls it a Panther barrel. But I wonder if it may be King Tiger.......
