    Genosse,
Unless you are going to dye it as well you are on a dead loss... NVA Uniforms fashed up look poor at best, Gitlerite Re-enactor Groups don't use them as they are incorrect on many levels, as would a Gitlerite Uniform turned into a Progressive NVA Uniform.

Colour Wrong, Cut is different ..... it will look wrong.

I think the best thing you can do to an East German tunic is to:
remove as much of the piping as possible
stitch dark green wool onto the collar
      replace the buttons
      add appropriate insignia
Always wear it under a smock

          Genosse,

The Duty Car is dispatched to your location, you are in violation of altering/ destroying property of the DDR.

Using an east german tunic is really, really, really not a good idea for several reaosns.

            1. Your destroying a piece of history. Even if its a cheap $15 EM tunic, its still part of an overlooked era in history.

            3. When converted they look like crap.

            2. I don't know of any WWII units (I used ot do third reich reenacting) that would even let you use it.

Its just really not worth the time, effort, or money to do it.
