    Converting

    Hi there!

Iam converting an swedish m39 jacket to an german m40 wehrmacht jacket, i have already gotten the pockets to look fubar, but it still looks some good.

Any one that can give me some tips how i make my uniform look good??

Hi Lasse, you will need to split the cuffs and add a rear vent (a split) in the back of the jacket skirt. The collar will need to be altered as well to allow it to close at the neck. This means cutting the lapels, adding a button hole and altering the collar. This is the hardest part. You will need to fit hooks and eyes too.
Belt hook supports need to be added too, both to the front and rear of the jacket. New buttons go without saying.
The main thing is also to dye the jacket. This can be done with a cold water dye, in the UK the colour is actually "Jade Green", which sounds awful but the colour comes out a very nice field grey when on the jacket.
I have converted a few of these for mates many years ago and they do not look too bad, but nowadays most serious re-enactors use custom made reproduction tunics which are detail perfect. Converting a Swedish tunic takes a lot of work.
I hope this is of some help?
    Cheers, Ade.

Hi Lasse, sorry I don't think I have any pics as I did these tunics about 20 years ago now.
With regards to the cuffs, I mean that they will need to be cut and two buttons added, so that the cuff can be adjusted like on the originals.
If you want to get in touch, all my details are in my profile .
        Cheers, Ade.

But I dont think that I can change the color of the uniform, so it will be like it is now.
