    Repro M38 XL?????

Can someone tell me where to find a Repro XL M38 Fallschirmjager helmet? Or maybe how to convert an ATF model for a larger size?

As far as I know Sturm company produces good replicas of FJ helmets, try Google or search through this forum.

I don't know of a company that makes helmet liners for FJs over size 60....you may just need to adjust your liner.....

Here's what I did to make my liner roughly a size 64 (It started as a size 59 or so)
      Remove liner
      unstitsch everything
      shave down foam
soak leather, then stretch over a large bowl (about a CM or 2 bigger than you need....it will shrink a bit)
      stitch back together

The leather shrunk a bit when I got it back into the shell, but it fits like a glove now. Although I could probably just wear the shell with the chinstras....

I feel your pain, literally. I agree with Rikhart, the best thing to do is find a shell you are happy with, buy the helmet, tear the liner apart and adapt it to your head. I think I have owned one of every shell offered at this point and they all have their pluses and minuses. Some shells are bigger in the skull of the helmet and smaller in the flare, while others are smaller in the skull but bigger in the flare which to my eye, looks most correct when compared against an original. I have a couple of extra helmets kicking around now if you need any more info, drop me a pm.

it#s tough to find a large helmet if you have a melon sized melon....at the last reenactment of over 35 Fallschirmjäger, nobody (I mean absolutley notbody) had a helmet that would fit me....the closest thing that would fit was a 62 liner...so I had to wear an infanterie helm all day....

You could try reenactors stuff.com. My friend Jonathan Krieger own's the site and I know at one time he had a good number of repro one's for sale and in larger sizes.

The larger size FJ helmet copies are very hard to find. The only company that made a really nice large shell and large liners was the Gmax company but they stopped making helmets several years ago. I see the old Gmax helmets for sale sometimes, they are a bit pricy but well worth the money if you need a larger size.

Have you tried George Birringer? He makes complete helmet liner reproductions if I am not mistaken. Contact me if you need his address.
