Hello, I would like to ask for some help about developing a "charecter" for my re-enacting for a more realistic 1st person effect. I guess what I need is a LOT of help, I am not very creative. Could anyone out here possibly type up a "life" of a fictional german SS soldier? I re-enact mainly late war 1942-44. So I would need a birth date and place, where went to school, maybe a job before going to war. Also, I re-enact as an SS soldier if that would help anyone out there with my charecter. I would like to be part of a machie gun team also. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE any help anyone here could provide me. Thank you, Jody Conrad

Sometimes it is best to create the charactor around that of your real life self? It can make it easier to remember and also provide a rough outline to build upon.
Birth date: simply base your real age you are now, say for example age 20, as the same for 1944, so you would have been born in 1924.
Place of brith: again base it around your real life, but for example, instead of being born in the southern USA, make it the south of Germany. Get a map and choose a town or village. Then do a little bit of research and find out what was the most common employer there. No use saying you were a steel worker if that town had no steel works during the war.
Hope this gives you some ideas?
Cheers, Ade.

Ade, that is really good advise. Building a character from your real life makes it more believeable and genuine since that is how you really are. To add to that advice also incorporate real life experiences like funny stories or things that happened to you and just change the place and date. Being only 20 or so relate mainly to school experiences. Your work experience would be limited. If portraying the SS, get a better understanding of the Hitler Youth program because you most certainly would have attended one of those programs or schools. Also fun to find some old 1930's or 1940's photos and create your "family". Hope that helps a little more. Good Luck, Mike.
