    Sissy

Well the real Sissy is von Stauffenberg himself. Dropping off a bomb in a room that's suppossed to kill a Man who has cheated death a thousand times and then running for your life out the gate is not bravery. You want to kill Hitler?, stick around and see the job through at great risk to yourself. The only way to kill Hitler is with a 100% committment to see him to his death even if it means your own.

Max Seela, now that is a War Hero!

        Herr Doktor,

Even if Tom Cruise is going to play Staufenberg (remember Top Gun, Brokeback Mountain in soft...) I think that in a couple of posts you are going to suspected of being a Nazi sympathizer...

As for the "Kamikaze" with all the respect due to the courage of the german soldiers IMHO they never had the very special sense of sacrifice the japanese soldiers had: better being in Normandy or the Bulge than on Iwo or Okinawa... and usually a Kamikaze doesn't come back from his mission...

Von Stauffenberg was a hero. He put his life in danger by trying to kill Hitler and setting up a coup in nazi germany. He only had bad luck.
Suicide is not an act of heroism.

Theodor with all my respect for you, please try to understand their PRUSSIAN way of thinking and beeing before you start blaming these guys. Thanks!

These sort of human was trained since hundreds of years to follow and not to think or ask!
A really good example what people "know" about prussia who got no more info than the History Channel offers

What did Hitler hated most in Germany, in relations of culture and traditions: all that old prussia stood fore! He was a deep antiprussian who wanted most to liquidate all the "junkers" after his "Endsieg" as he noticed that he could never make "true believers" in the NS-Way out of them.

The Baron von Boeselager was one of the last Oldschool Gentlemen, a man and officer who was ca cavalry man with every beat of his hear.

            Rest in Peace!

In Memorian Philipp Freiherr von Boeselager

Boeselager was not last survivor of Valkyrie

Just ran across this string - I would like to clarify one inaccuracy here in that Phillipp von Boeselager was NOT the last survivor of the bomb plot.

This inaccuracy is repeated on and in his recent autobiography entitled "Valkyrie."

The last survivor is Ewald Heinrich von Kleist-Schmenzin who volunteered to blow himself up with Hitler during a uniforms demo and who took a very active role in the Bendlerstrassse on July 20 during Operation Valkyrie.

Herr von Kleist is still alive as far as I know.

Another very brave man and a witness to astounding history.

Yes, indeed! Thanks to Colin, this is a fact I can also attest to.

Thank you for the clarity, Colin.
