    Restoring M35, need help! :)

    *edit: I apologize for the headline, its a M40, not a M35!*

    Hi and hello!

I want to restore a M40 shell (ET68) i have had for a while, meaning i want to repaint it (it is stripped to the steel), apply decals and buy a liner band for my original liner or simply buy a new liner

Now, first of all, i need to know what type of helmet i can make it into? Luftwaffe, SS, Heer?
Then i will need the correct paint to apply and i have searched the know-it-all-machine Google, but i have only found a site that ships to USA only

    Can anyone help me?

well that is something you will have to decide for yourself which branck to do. If you are doing a late war re-issue helmet you can fore go decals. As to the color and texture of the paint you will need to decide what branch and time period post to 1940. Also no need to prime the helmet. I have watched a segment on the tv about helmets being made and they went from the tempering stage to the degreaseing stage right to the painting stage with no primeing. Just remember to paint the helmet split rivits when you paint the helmet so they match.

            1944 Militaria paint

            Peters

Drew at 1944 Militaria has a great selection of spray paint for helmets and equipment. I have had great success with his paints. He has apple green, Feldgrau and 1940-42 Feldblau.

In case the spraypaint cannot be imported, Militaria Versand Emig also sells spraypaint.

I use the dry transfer decals from German Helmet decals.

I suggest Heer or Luft SS is way over done.
