    Berlin visit

well, what can i say, ive just got back from a three day visit to the capital. i visited as many 3rd reich buildings remaining as possible, even a visit to the wansee house, however, maybe a little naievely i was dissapointed in the look of the city, admitedly the air force took its toll during ww2 but instead of trying to rebuild in keeping as an historical city ,theyve built glass and concrete jungles. the whole main part is awash with cranes and redevelpment. i cant fault the people in how they made us feel comfortable, and not laughing out loud at my german, but when i asked directions to certain areas or existing buildings i was almost classed a neo nazi, they just denied any where abouts with a remark in the lines of THE WAR ,WE DONT LIKE TO TALK ABOUT SUCH THINGS . as sad as the history of germany is , im affraid germany has been forced to change its identity and lose all sense of historical being by post war allied countries, its had its guts ripped out. german people should be proud of their culture and history,{ save the 12 yrs reich period} next visit to germany will be berchtesgaden AGAIN.

I have a small flat on Gertrude Kolmar Str (terrible name), overlooking the bunker site. As you all probably know, Berlin Unterwelten erected a small info sign there which at least puts it on the map. However, I fear the site may soon be completely taken over by a new residential block soon to come. The plans fall short of the bunker site, but on others are covering its North East side. We shall see. At the moment B. Unterwelten have a nice replica of the model 'Germania' in this area that was used in the Ganz film for those interested.
