      Relics

      Relics
Even today more than 60 years after the Battle of the Bulge, relics are found in the woods, in barns and attics in the Ardennes.
The relic here is a German M40 combat helmet found near Poteau in 2003.

        Relics

Here we have two .50 caliber shells and a BAR clip also found near Poteau, Belgium. There is also an clip for the Thompson MP and a fragment of a US M-2 handgrenade both found in the woods around Clervaux, Luxembourg.

          The Mardasson Memorial - Bastogne

          The Mardasson Memorial

The Mardasson Memorial is a tribute from the Belgian population as a whole to the American nation. Given that the American effort was so decisive here, Bastogne was chosen as the site for the memorial’s construction. For the Americans, Bastogne is the symbol of their legendary spirit of resistance, but also of their sense of judgement in their victorious counter offensive. It is important to highlight the fact that the Battle of the Ardennes is considered, by the Americans themselves, as one of the hardest battles fought by the United States during their history.

          Lest we forget!

                    Very interesting thread!
I have been to the Ardennes once and I have seen all those places and it's was very interesting and fun!

Here is a relic that I found without no detectors or anything. I found it in the Bois Jacques forest near the village of Foy.

                                US artifact

                                Hi !

                                Nice tour and nice pix.
I leave not far from the Bulge and i know the battlefields very well. As you post some artifacts found there , i show you what i've found two years ago in the Bois Jacques near a fox hole.

A tube of Shontex "for hair an sclap" ointment.
Used and 64 years after the odour of the pomade stills in it.
