Thanks for the link, I had fun looking at the pics. Overall, it was an impressive display, However, I cannot say for the non-germans, but I saw a fair amount of WWII gear on the German reenactors, as well as a few tunics that must have been converted from Swedish tunics or something because they just weren't quite right. But in fairness, I hear prices for uniforms over there are outrageous. -
a very impressive type of remembering history
i don't know if it could be fun for me to run in a uniform onto a field like i've "played" in junger ages - but to look att it would be something i will try if its offered near my home.
what do you think about it?

I think this is a very special way to remember the comrades who were killed there, especially in Verdun. And seeing germans and french together laying down flowers at the Douaumont is great. After so many years and deads they are friends in peace. I wish some of the soldiers from 1916 could see this, I think they would be proud that their death was not senseless.Comment

Thanks for the link about the deutsche Schrift. I always wondered why Fraktur was discontinued during the Third Reich era. I also found the information on Handschrift and Sütterlinschrift. I never realized there was a distinction - I just lumped them together when I painstakingly learned Sütterlin years ago.

JensF - thanks for the links - I went to Ypres, Belgium in 2001 and participated with IR121 there. I enjoyed visiting with a couple of their members. Thankfully their english is better than my German!
