Hi Guys, I had some sad news recently. A Veteran friend of mine sadly passed away suddenly, but peacefully in his sleep. Ron was 83 but looked younger as can be seen in this photo taken last May.
Ron served with the XXI Indep. Para Coy as a young soldier at the end of WW2. He served in Palestine. Prior to becoming a Paratrooper, he served in the Royal Artillery.
A story from Ron can be read hre:

Ron was an interesting person. He was a humanist and had a passion for Ancient Egypt. He had been to Egypt many times and at the last reunion he advised me about making the trip there. (Which I have only just done, coming home on Feb 4th) He used to lecture on the subject. He kindly gave me a book which I took on my trip and which proved to be invaluable. Sadly he passed away before I could tell him about my trip. I know he would have been thrilled that I made it.
Cheers, Ade.
