I am trying to get my May 1940 impression fully correct.
This is what I have so far, I've been doing some research. Please correct me if you see any mistakes at all! Eary war is difficult to get right!
Remember, this is not for poland, but only for the may 1940 campaign!
-----
M40 helmet: Introduced March 1940, field grey paint , single decal
March 21st 1940: All tricolored shields ordered removed
options for use:
M35 apple green paint double decal
M35 apple green tricolor shield scratched off
m35 painted over with field grey, only eagle remains, shield painted over
M40 field grey paint, single decal
---------
M34 sidecap with white soutache
White collarless hemd
M36 feldbluse recommended!
M40 feldbluse worn on small scale
Both worn with kragenbinde
Breast eagles:
1 may 1934: white on field grey
September 1935: white on dark green
Late 1939: Color of eagle changed from white to mouse grey
Both BEVO and wool eagles were used (true?)
Litzen: Early war generic introduced on november 26th, 1938
Infantry piped litzen used both backed with bottle green wool, or sewn directly
Same goes for generic litzen
Shoulder boards: M36 type introduced November, 1938, to be worn with white piping for infantry
M40 field grey boards introduced in May, 1940 so they are very rare in the may campaign
Y-straps also very rare, not to be used
Was field grey rank insignia worn? Or were only dark green ones used? (Oberschutze, etc)
When were M40 greatcoats introduced?
Aluminium buckle
39 style jackboots
Stone grey trousers (recommended)
Field grey trousers used too, but like the m40 tunic used on a small scale
What was the color of gas mask canisters? What was the color of other steel painted personal equipment?
When were non-rubberized gas cape bags introduced?
MP40's used on a VERY small scale, most NCO's with K98's or some old SMG
When were artillery rucksacks introduced?
