    Operation Felix reenactment.

Throughout this weekend a film crew has been going around different sites in Gibraltar filming a 'What If' documentary about Operation Felix, the proposed plan for the invasion of Gibraltar in January 1941. Last weekend i was lucky enough to join the production crew and accompanied them into the WW2 tunnels inside the Rock, not the tourist ones but the ones that are shut off from the public and some of which are still used by the MOD, a 2lber is still in place. Unfortunately photography inside the tunnels was not allowed but i managed to get some pics of the outside of the defences.

Yesterday two reenactment groups were filmed staging the proposed assault on Eastern Beach and i was able to be quite close to the action and take some pics which i'd like to share here. There's plenty of pics coming up and i hope you all enjoy them.

A planned parade, by both groups, this morning, was cancelled due to some regressive elements in society that cannot differentiate between history and stereotyping.

Anyhow enjoy the pics and apologies for the amount of them, still got over 100 i'm not posting

    Jonathan

Seaward bunkers, as a boy i remember many of these but modern developments and heavy storms have seen the disappearence of many.

Some of the East Side defences. A big bunker complex just below it is in the sea after falling into it during a heavy storm a few years ago.

Now to the actual reenactment yesterday.

Beach defences meant to recreate the Causeway which was a long trench system that run from the sea to the base of the Rock.

More trench pics. The British guns were all original some of which could still be fired, one of the Vickers did fire blanks. My friends Bren Gun was also used.

Some of the defenders, Black Watch and King's Rifles Regiments. My Grandad was in the King's and also stationed in Gibraltar, where he met Gran, durin 139-41.
