U.S Naval Minesweeper

At a luncheon yesterday I had the pleasure of sitting next to a Navy World War II veteran. His seven trip tour of the North and South Atlantic on a Minesweeper was both interesting and eye-opening. All of the depth charging has left him almost totally deaf. He described the explosion as "if the entire ocean was exploding " .

Interesting. Did he tell you the name of the vessel? I attended the 1st Marine Div. reunion several years ago in San Diego and was shocked at how many of those vets had hearing aids! Must have been all the rifle/artillery/mortar fire they were exposed to.
