I know from personal experience that Heinrich Springer was very helpful, generous and patient towards historians and collectors.

The ranks of surviving Ritterkreuztrager are geting fewer.

Unfortunately I never met him, since when I joined the "Freundeskreis" of the HIAG-Hamburg he had been ill already and did not travel anymore. I wrote him though and he wrote me back, sending what he mentioned was the last autograph he would ever have signed. I am very greatful.

I just hope sincerly that his heritage will not be torn apart as others have been in the past like Wisch, Baum and many others.
